This week I visited the Nahalal Youth Village so I could meet some of the Na’aleh students. I had a really wonderful time talking with these young and vibrant students!
I asked the students about their experiences at school and without hesitation they immediately said “I love it here!" It warms my heart to know that students are so happy in Israel and at Nahalal.
Na’aleh student, Masha
I made a special connection with two students, Diana and Masha. They were very warm and open with me about their experiences at school. Both girls confessed that they hope to make Israel their permanent home and that they would like their families to join them here. I was truly moved, hearing about the passion that they share for Israel.
This Zionism is something that I can relate to. I, like the Na’aleh students, am an Olah Hadashah, a new immigrant to Israel. Like the Diana and Masha, I wasn’t born nor raised in Israel, yet we all feel a genuine connection to the country. Hearing the students speak about this reminded me of the reasons that brought me to making Aliyah. It meant a lot to me to make such a profound connection with the students.
When we said good-bye the students wished me a Shabbat Shalom and Shana Tova. I look forward to seeing them again in the near future and hearing more about their experiences in the Na’aleh Program, at Nahalal, and in Israel.
